Shota is a full-time furniture maker striving to preserve traditional methods and techniques while keeping them relevant to modern times. Shota attended the David Savage School of Fine Furniture in Devon, England for 1 year. After furniture school, he worked at Collings Guitar outside Austin and with Mark Macek at Macek Furniture company. During this time, Shota began to work for himself and started SYD. He along with a few other partners started Toolmarks, a woodworking co-op in south Austin.
Shota’s pieces are clean, modern and minimalistic. He often incorporates other mediums into his work, such as glass, metal, leather and various fabrics. Shota makes one-of-a-kind custom works for clients all over the US and strives to push the envelope of design in every piece.
