Introduction to Woodworking is a beginner course specifically designed for people who identify as women and non-binary to get their first exposure to woodworking and relevant machines. This class strives to create a safe, welcoming and fun learning environment for those with little to no previous experience in woodworking. Students will be introduced to fundamental woodworking machinery over two days and will complete a wall hung cabinet to take home.

Class Description:

Intro to Woodworking (Women + Nonbionary) is a beginner course for students with little to no woodworking experience to learn in a safe, exciting, and welcoming environment. This class will safely introduce students to fundamental machines commonly used in woodworking. Students will construct a wall hung cabinet over the course of two days while learning the milling process of rough sawn and dimensional lumber, joinery techniques, furniture making best practices and much, much more.

Materials and material costs are included in this class and the lumber will be ready and waiting for each student. Students will walk away with their very own cabinet ready to display in their own home.

Please Note: This class is not in lieu of Fundamentals of Woodworking (7 weeks). Fundamentals of Woodworking would be the next recommended course.

 

Schedule:

Saturday & Sunday
9:00am – 5:00 pm (1 hr lunch break)

 

What to Bring:

The tools for this class are recommended. This means that you can bring your own, borrow them from our tool library or buy them from our retail store.

  • Eye protection (mandatory)

  • Your own tools if you have them (optional)
    • Pencil
