Class Description:

Jump head first into chair making with this Windsor Chair making course that is perfect for any woodworking skill level. This class is specifically designed for first time chair makers as well as those with some chair making experience.

In this course students will make their very own contemporary Windsor Chair. Dating back hundreds of years, the Windsor chair is a style with timeless appeal. Fundamental woodworking skills and essential chair making techniques will all be taught during the course of this amazing class.

Topics and skills covered will include:

• Basic Design
• Grain Selection
• Steam Bending
• Hand Tool Usage
• Bending Forms
• Using a Shave Horse
• Techniques for Chair Making Hand Tools
• Chair Construction
• Compound Drilling & Use of Lasers
• Usage of Milk Paint & Other Finishes

What you’ll need:

These tools are recommended. If you can bring your own set that is great. If not, the instructor and school will provide you with tools to use but you may have to share. As well, you can purchase many of these tools directly from the Austin School of Furniture.
