AUSTIN FURNITURE DESIGN INVITATIONAL + SHOW
FORM & FURNISH is a new event spotlighting the city’s top furniture makers. In partnership with Austin Home Magazine, Splinter Group and the Austin School of Furniture, the pieces will debut alongside Austin Home’s Winter Issue. Participants will be showcased in an editorial featured in that issue, and showcased at an exclusive issue release party attended by leaders in architecture, interiors, and construction. The gallery will remain open to the public throughout the weekend, further elevating Austin’s design scene.
This is a curated exhibition for artists located in Austin, Texas. All projects must be designed and made by the same artists. Form & Furnish is an invitational, but you may fill out the application below to request an invite.

Invitational:
Participation in the showcase is by invitation only. Selected furniture makers will be notified directly. Depending on the number of invited participants that accept to participate, a public application may be posted.
Design Brief:
Each year, participating makers will be provided with specific instructions to guide and inspire their creations. Due to time constraints, there is no style or theme in 2025. Makers are encouraged to submit a one-of-a-kind, unique, inspirational furniture piece that exemplifies them as a maker. Furniture that is already built may be submitted but can not have been shown in the Austin Furniture Invitational previously.
- Exhibit Rules:
Each furniture maker can showcase one piece of furniture or a small set of related pieces. Exact square footage will be given later. - Projects outlines must be submitted to the [Project Submittal Form Here] to be officially approved. Photos must be submitted before the Exhibition as well to the [Photo Upload Folder Here].
- It is recommended that a piece of furniture be created specifically for the showcase but is not required. Work that is already built and ready to go is acceptable especially for the first year.
- Furniture makers are encouraged to be present at the Friday evening cocktail party to engage with attendees but do not need to be present during the public gallery times unless desired.
- No fees to the furniture maker will be charged and no commissions will be taken if the piece sells. Pieces do not have to be for sale but if sold, they can not be removed until the conclusion of the showcase.
- Makers are responsible for all costs associated with creating and transporting the speculative piece of furniture.
- Signage will be posted instructing attendees not to touch or ask to touch. The exhibition, Austin School of Furniture and Austin Home are not responsible for any damage that may occur at the show. Furniture Makers are entering pieces at their own risk.
- It is strongly recommended that pieces are professionally photographed before the show. Photos will be used to promote the show and will be the photos used in the Austin Home winter issue. Austin School of Furniture can take professional photos for you for a small fee.
- This is an Austin centric show. All participating makers (the shop where the pieces are made) must be located in Travis County.
- All materials are allowed. Materials can include but are not limited to wood, metal, plastic, leather, textiles, or stone.
- Entries must be designed and made by the same artist (small parts or components can be outsourced – EX: Upholstery of a chair or cabinet hardware.
Selling Opportunities:
Makers may sell their showcased pieces and accept commissions from potential clients during the event. No fees or commission will be charged by the event organizers. Sold pieces can not be moved from the gallery until the conclusion of the show.
Media Coverage:
Participating furniture makers will receive a feature in the winter issue of Austin Home Magazine, highlighting their work and business. By entering the show, makers give Austin Home Magazine the right to use the photos of their work.

May 6th – Participation confirmation
October 1st – Project Completion
October 17th – Project submission for magazine
