Refund Policy of Austin School of Furniture and Design

Special Situation Class Refund Policy (Updated: March 15th, 2020)

Due to the recent outbreak of the COVID19 disease caused by the Coronavirus in the United States and surrounding countries, fear of large gatherings has risen. As a result, many events have had to be cancelled or postponed. On a smaller scale, small businesses, especially those in the service industry have been hurt by decreased sales, cancellations and lack of attendance. 

We want to make sure that our students and staff are as safe as possible. We understand that some individuals may be at-risk from COVID-19 and might need to cancel their class. We will respect that and encourage individuals to do so if they feel it is necessary but due to an increase in volume of cancellations we will be offering course coupons in lieu of full refunds in order to help the school’s cash flow weather the storm of this situation.

Safety is our top concern but we will be moving forward with classes as planned for now. We are monitoring the situation closely and are taking extra precautions to keep students and staff safe. We will update again if the situation changes to the point of us needing to reschedule classes.


We have taken the following precautions

– Signage has been posted

– Cleaning frequency has been increased

– Antiviral cleaning products are being used

– Hand sanitizers will be provided

– We encourage our students and teachers to not shake hands

– Don’t touch your face

– And most importantly, we ask that you stay home if you are feeling ill. Missing a class is fine. We will catch you up


Standard Class Refund Policy

If any student wishes to cancel their enrollment in a particular class at the Austin School of Woodworking she/he must email a written notice to Phone calls, text messages, social network comments, etc. will not be considered a valid cancellation notification.

All cancellations, regardless of the course value and time of cancellation will be charged a 5% processing fee. If a notice is dated and received prior to 2 weeks before the class start date, a full refund (minus processing fee) will be given. If a notice is given and received between 1 and 2 weeks notice then a 50% (minus processing fee) refund will be given. There will be no refunds, regardless of reasoning, given for notices with less than a weeks notice.

> 1 week = 45%

< 1 week = 0%


Reasoning and justification of enforcement of this policy are detailed as below and are not subject to negotiation.  Cancellations are defined as failure or inability or unwillingness to attend all or any part of a class in which the student is enrolled regardless of reason be it illness, accident, medical related, death, death of another, auto breakdown, act of God, epidemic and/or act of another.  The terms of this policy are in effect through the final day of the course. 

In the unlikely chance that the Austin School of Furniture and Design will need to cancel a class itself we will first attempt to reschedule the course. If rescheduling is not possible, we will provide a full refund to students. If an enrolled student can not attend the rescheduled class, a full refund will also be given. ASFD reserves the right to cancel any class and reschedule or not reschedule if the minimum student limit is not met.

If a student would like to transfer to another course of equal or lesser value they may do so free of charge if an emailed notice is given prior to 2 weeks from the course start date.



ASFD does not offer refunds for tangible products or physical items it sells. Due to the uncertainty of shipping services it is impossible for us to ensure the quality of items upon delivery. Although, we can guarantee that we will do everything in our power to provide high quality goods and high quality services to ship those goods.
