Volunteer Instructor Liability Waiver


This Agreement is made between Austin School of Furniture and Design LLC, Austin School of Furniture Foundation (ASFF) and the undersigned Volunteer Instructor (hereafter referred to as "Volunteer").

1. Purpose
The purpose of this Agreement is to outline the responsibilities and expectations of ASF, ASFF and the Volunteer in connection with the Community Classes program, which offers short-form woodworking and furniture making classes.

 

2. Volunteer Role and Responsibilities

Role: Volunteer Teacher for Community Classes

Responsibilities:

  • Teach and facilitate woodworking and furniture making classes as scheduled.
  • Prepare and organize class materials and tools prior to each session.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Provide guidance and support to students of varying skill levels.
  • Follow all ASF & ASFF policies and procedures, including safety protocols.

 

3. ASF & ASFF Responsibilities
ASF & ASFF agrees to provide:

  • Orientation and training related to class content, teaching techniques, and safety procedures.
  • Necessary materials and tools required for the classes.
  • Support from ASF & ASFF staff.
  • A safe and secure teaching environment.
  • Recognition and appreciation for volunteer contributions.

 

4. Safety and Conduct

Safety:

  • Volunteers must adhere to all ASF & ASFF safety protocols, including the proper use of power tools and machinery.
  • Volunteers are responsible for ensuring that students follow safety guidelines and use protective equipment as required.
  • Any accidents or incidents must be reported immediately to ASF & ASFF staff.

Conduct:

  • Volunteers must maintain a professional and respectful demeanor at all times.
  • Volunteers should foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Any form of discrimination, harassment, or misconduct will not be tolerated and may result in termination of the volunteer agreement.

 

5. Commitment and Schedule

Commitment:

  • Volunteers are expected to commit to the agreed schedule of classes.
  • In the event of an unavoidable absence, the Volunteer should notify ASF & ASFF as soon as possible.

Schedule:

  • Specific class dates and times will be arranged between ASF & ASFF and the Volunteer.
  • Volunteers should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of each class for preparation.

 

6. Liability Waiver
The Volunteer acknowledges the inherent risks involved in woodworking and the use of power tools. By signing this Agreement, the Volunteer agrees to release and hold harmless ASF & ASFF, its staff, and its affiliates from any and all liability for any injuries, damages, or losses incurred while performing volunteer duties.

 

7. Confidentiality
Volunteers may have access to confidential information about ASF & ASFF and its participants. Volunteers agree to maintain the confidentiality of all such information and not disclose it to any third parties without ASF & ASFF's written consent.

 

8. Termination
Either party may terminate this Agreement at any time with written notice. ASF & ASFF reserves the right to terminate this Agreement immediately in the event of a breach of ASF & ASFF policies or procedures by the Volunteer.

 

9. Agreement Acknowledgment
By signing below, the Volunteer acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agree to the terms and conditions outlined in this Agreement.
