Class Description:

A fun 1 Day Class with other enthusiasts to build a table top bookshelf that is shaped like a tree with a trunk and branches (diagonal shelves). This non-traditional solid cherry wood design will immediately catch your eye and showcase your favorite books, art objects, and knickknacks. The shelf is approximately 14 inches wide, by 17 inches tall, by 6 inches deep and will hold approximately 6-12 average sized books along with a few small objects on the base. These make excellent gifts.

Woodworking: During the class you will learn the following woodworking techniques:

  • How to measure, mark and cut your project parts
  • How to make a crosscut miter (45 degree angle) on the table saw
  • How to round over the ends of the bookshelf parts using a router table
  • How to mark, clamp, drill, countersink and screw together your parts for assembly
  • How to create matching wood plugs to cover screw holes (optional)
  • How to perform final sanding using both hand and machine techniques
  • Discuss finishing options that students can perform at home to suit their own tastes.
