Class Description:
Marquetry is a style of decorative woodworking that involves creating images or scenes by inlaying small pieces of variously colored wood or other materials into furniture or other woodworking components. In this class, students will learn the basics of marquetry and how to create gorgeous motifs. Students will create their own a decorative marquetry panel with wood veneer that can be used for various applications such as a box lid, tray, a small cabinet door, tabletop or even a wall decoration. In this class, we will be cutting our veneer with a scroll saw and assembling into what is called “the Packet Method” and not by hand.
This marquetry class requires some specialty tools but for the most part we have everything you will need. You will however need to bring your own design. See student examples HERE. Materials and material cost is included and will be ready and waiting for each student. Students will walk away with their very own decorative panel.
