Class Description:

One-day class to build a modern knife block out of cherry and walnut wood with a pleasing curved shape, a small footprint (3 inches wide, 10 inches deep, 12 inches tall), and large capacity (surprisingly holds up to 11 large or 33 small knives). Students will have the option to tailor the block to suit their tastes in terms of the mixture and placement of knife types and sizes. You can bring your knives/scissors to help tailor the block to your requirements or use standard openings for typical knife types / sizes. In this beginner to intermediate class, you will learn to cut wedges on a bandsaw, cut thin strips on a table saw, cross cut angles on a table saw, and joint / plane to square the parts and final shape. The Modern Knife Block makes an excellent hand-crafted holiday gift that is sure to please your favorite chef.

Materials and jig blocks are provided.
