Class Description:
No matter your woodworking style, the handplane should be a staple of any furniture maker’s toolbox. The Handplane Basics course is designed to cover all fundamentals of handplanes and more. This includes selection, setup, usage and sharpening as it relates to furniture making. In this hands-on class, students will explore the many nuances between planes and their ideal usage. You will use a wide range of modern and vintage handplanes in the following capacities; roughing, smoothing, jointing and joinery while learning how to properly maintain and sharpen using a variety of methods. These newly acquired skills can be put to use on your future joinery and furniture projects.
You’ll walk away from this class with the knowledge and confidence to purchase your own set of handplanes, properly use and maintain them.
