Class Description:

Philip Morley will be leading a week long class building a gorgeous drink cart that can be used for transporting all kinds of beverages. Not only is this cart beautiful but it is designed to be a useful addition to any home.

This week long class will walk through the building of this bar cart step by step. Phil will cover lumber, materials choices and will discuss the usage of lumber core and plywood in custom pieces of furniture. The course will walk students through topics with lectures, demonstrations and hands-on application of joinery techniques, design, lumber selection, use of hardware, and door construction.

Students will not only learn loads of amazing woodworking techniques but will walk away with their very on Morley Bar Cart.

Topics and skills covered will include:

• Safety
• Tool and jig usage
• Mortise and tenon joinery
• Lumber-core vs Plywood
• Use of hardware and hinges
• Door construction
• Sliding Doors
• Edge profiling
• Brass accents
• Veneering
• Case construction

What you’ll need:

Required

• Coping saw
• Handsaw for tenons
  • Western or Japanese
• Measuring tape
• Steel Ruler (6″ or 8”)
• Pencil and Note pad

Optional (If you don’t bring your own you will have to share the school’s limited quantity)

• #4 Smoothing Plane
• Block plane (Low Angle)
• Shoulder plane.

If you have done some woodworking, and have some tools you think would be useful, feel free to bring them. It does not hurt to bring more than you need.
