Class Description:
Need a door? Make a door! In this course students will learn the fundamentals of efficiently making a strong and tasteful passage door with a matching jamb assembly. This class will give students a firm overall understanding of passage door construction and fundamental practices that apply to a wide range of other woodworking projects.
Every house is a little different and thus so are the doors. Instead of each student making their own doors, students will work in groups to create a standard door. The techniques learned in this course can be applied to make additional doors at home that may have different size requirements.
Topics and skills covered will include:
- Using a story stick as a plan to build from
- Making lumber core
- Making “skins” (thick veneers) and laminating them
- Mortise and tenon joinery with floating panels
- Large glue ups
- Installing door hardware

Required
- Safety Glasses, Ear Protection and a Dust Mask

- Pencil and Paper
Optional (If you don’t bring your own you will have to share the school’s limited quantity)

If you have done some woodworking, and have some tools you think would be useful, feel free to bring them. It does not hurt to bring more than you need.
